One foot in front of the other . . .

 

While doing dishes the other day, a major epiphany finally hit me.  (Isn’t it interesting how some of the most mundane tasks of our daily lives can be the most therapeutic?  When we lived in the Midwest, my husband used to love to mow the lawn when he had a problem or issue to work through.  I now have a better understanding as to why.)  Ok, so let’s go back a few weeks before the dishes epiphany.  Or better yet, let me take you back to the day I first started my office management position.  I had moved from a legal secretarial position to office management, a position for which I felt woefully unprepared.  In a few short months, I had joined ALA and the Valley of the Sun Chapter.  I was quickly “whisked” into a committee chair position at the beginning of the year four months later.  I was freaking out, and have been pretty much ever since.  First, for taking on a position I knew nothing about and second, for then taking on a position within the Chapter that would lead me to Chapter President in three short years.  What was I thinking?  During the past three years, occasional waves of panic have washed over me as I’ve drawn closer to this day – and now, it is here!

And then I did the dishes.
